Katherine Ryan is a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Grant MacEwan University in Canada. Whilst studying, Katherine took several cognitive psychology courses where she became interested in early childhood development. She moved to Hong Kong in 2015 and has been teaching English to young learners ever since.
In 2018, Katherine furthered her teaching knowledge by became a CELTA certified instructor (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Since this time, she has helped to edit and develop curriculum for students aged three to twelve. In 2019, Katherine wrote and administered the English Proficiency Examinations (EPE) to gauge young learners on their level of comprehension and speaking capabilities.
Katherine is a published author, penning a series of children’s fairy-tales to supplement English curriculum. Additionally, she is the co-author of four Trinity textbooks which focus on developing student’s spoken English capabilities. These textbooks prepare learners to take the Trinity GESE (Grade Examination in Spoken English), one of the most recognizable ESL qualifications.
As Associate Director of English Operations for Hong Kong, Katherine has spearheaded the teacher development program. By continually evolving the training, support and performance standards, she has ensured students are receiving quality English education.
